Cougars Post 66-58 Win at Central Arkansas behind Waldon’s 16 Points

Courtney Waldon scored a game-high 16 points in CSU's 66-58 win at Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. – Chicago State women's basketball finished its road finale of the year 2010 on a good note here tonight as it claimed a 66-58 victory over host Central Arkansas at UCA's Farris Center. The Cougars improved their season record to 5-7 with the win, while the Sugar Bears saw their record drop to 6-5.

Senior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) led CSU with a game-high 16 points, while junior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) added 14 points and a game-high six assists in addition to going a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line. Senior Elana Wroten (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) produced a game-leading 12 rebounds.

Sophomore Jazzmyn Harvey (Chicago, Ill./Bellwood) (Hillside, Ill.) scored a season-best 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Senior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) contributed 10 rebounds, nine points and a career-high six blocked shots for the Cougars.

Central Arkansas was led by junior Sidney Stewart, who recorded 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Megan Herbert added 10 points and seven boards, and fellow sophomore Micah Rice tallied a game-high four steals.

CSU is back in action on Thursday night as it closes out the year 2010 at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center against Miami (Ohio) with a start time of 7 p.m.
