FORT WORTH, Texas – Senior Carl Montgomery (Chicago, IL/Shepard) (Chicago, Ill) tallied a career-best 30 points as Chicago State men's basketball team concluded its four-game road swing tonight here with a 99-72 defeat at the hands of host TCU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. The Horned Frogs hiked their record to 9-4 with the win and the Cougars dropped to 3-13 on the year.
Montgomery, who became the first CSU player to hit the 30-point mark in nearly two years, shot 10-of-18 from the field and 10-of-14 from the free throw line in addition to producing five rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.
Senior Christian Wall (New Orleans, LA/John Ehret) (New Orleans, La.) added nine points, while sophomore Victor Scott (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) contributed seven points and senior Archie Seals (Chicago, IL/Thornridge) (Chicago, Ill.) dished out a career-best five assists.
TCU was led by freshman Amric Fields' 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. Junior J.R. Cadot posted a double-double of 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while sophomore Garlon Green recorded 16 points and junior Sammy Yeager added 15 points.
The Cougars are idle until Jan. 8 when they host Utah Valley in the Great West Conference opener for both teams at the Jacoby Dickens Center beginning at 4:30 p.m.
