CHICAGO – Chicago State women's basketball continued its three-game road swing Saturday afternoon in Rogers Park against inter-city rival Loyola, but the host Ramblers captured a 71-61 victory at the Gentile Center.
The Ramblers hiked their season record to 5-4 and the Cougars dropped to 3-6 on the year.
Junior Janay Dockery (Detroit, MI/Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich.) paced CSU with 16 points and six assists, while senior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) also scored 16 points and went 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Senior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots, and senior Elana Wroten (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) posted 10 rebounds.
Monica Albano led four Loyola players in double figures with a game-high 21 points. Lindsay Sebectic and Abby Skube added 15 points apiece, while Ellen Ayoub tallied a double-double of a game-high 11 rebounds and 10 points.
CSU is idle this week for final exams before heading to Valparaiso, Ind., on Dec. 18 for a contest against the host Crusaders at the Athletics-Recreation Center for a start time of 1:30 p.m.
