CHICAGO – Chicago State women's tennis closed its regular-season slate with a 5-2 victory over NCAA Division I newcomer North Dakota on Sunday morning at the Brophy Courts in Macomb, Ill.
The Cougars, who also recorded a pair of weekend wins over Wayne State (Mich.) [7-0] at home and at Western Illinois [6-1], improve to 10-3 on the year after winning their 10th consecutive match since mid-February.
CSU opened the match with an 8-5 win by the No. 1 doubles tandem of sophomore Dian Mayasari (Tulang Agung, Indonesia/St. Thomas Aquino) (Tulang Agung, Indonesia) and junior Golda Rubina (Jakarta, Indonesia/Budi Murni) (Jakarta, Indonesia) over UND's Emily and Katie Callison. The No. 2 doubles team of Lina and Lia Tejoprayitno (Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia) recorded an 8-1 victory over Katie Wessman and Molly Maurer for the doubles point. The Fighting Sioux captured the No. 3 doubles match by default.
Mayasari claimed an easy 6-1, 6-0 win over Emily Callison at No. 1 singles, while Lina Tejoprayitno posted a 6-0, 7-6 (3) victory at No. 2 singles over Katie Callison.
Rubina (6-1, 6-0) and Lia Tejoprayitno (6-2, 6-0) also captured straight sets victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
Sophomore Peggy Moore (Toledo, OH/Libbey HS) (Toledo, Ohio) dropped a one-set advantage in her No. 5 singles match against Katie Wessman by scores of 6-3, 5-7, 8-10. UND won by default in No. 6 singles.
