ST. PAUL, Minn. — Despite the loss, Chicago State (0-3-0) showcased a strong defensive effort as their goalie recorded 13 saves against 29 shots in a match against St. Thomas (MN) (1-1-1) on Thursday at South Field. The final score was 4-1 in favor of St. Thomas.

The first period commenced with CSU and St. Thomas (MN) both on the hunt for an early advantage. CSU's Jorge Leon made a promising attempt in the 11th minute, but his shot was saved by St. Thomas's goalkeeper, Moritz Krenc. Meanwhile, Jabulile Mooketsi, guarding the net for CSU, showed resilience by saving multiple attempts, including two successive shots by Rodrigo Salamanca Lopez in the 13th minute.

CSU held strong defensively, with Mooketsi making notable saves against Eliot Beaumale and Johann Joensen as the period progressed. Despite both teams creating opportunities, neither side managed to break the deadlock. The first period concluded with the score tied at 0-0, as both teams headed into the break evenly matched.

The second period began with St. Thomas (MN) applying pressure, resulting in several early scoring opportunities.
