CHICAGO, Ill. — The countdown is officially on. Chicago State University Athletics proudly marks 100 days until the inaugural Chicago State football season kicks off on August 29, 2026, signaling the beginning of a historic new chapter for the University, its student-athletes, alumni, and the city of Chicago.
Under the leadership of Head Football Coach Bobby Rome II, the Cougars continue building momentum toward the program's first-ever season. Since being introduced as the inaugural head coach on April 8, 2025, Coach Rome has assembled his first coaching staff, welcomed student-athletes to campus, and announced the program's first signing class on National Signing Day earlier this year.
Chicago State currently has 39 football student-athletes enrolled and on campus following the completion of the Spring 2026 semester, with additional newcomers scheduled to arrive for Summer Session I beginning May 22.
The Cougars will officially open the historic season against Roosevelt University on August 29, 2026, marking the first football game in Chicago State University history.
