RALEIGH, N.C - Chicago State track and field recorded several strong performances across the sprints, hurdles and jumps during the second day of the Raleigh Relays, highlighted by top finishes in the triple jump and hurdles.
On the track, Katherine Thornton led the way in the women's 100-meter hurdles, finishing 29th overall with a time of 14.47. On the men's side, Faustin Kaseba paced the Cougars in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.74 to place 25th, while teammate Ishan Cooper followed in 45th with a mark of 15.68.
Chicago State also saw solid depth in the women's 100 meters as four Cougars posted competitive times. Queanna Taylor led the group with a time of 12.39 to place 93rd, followed closely by Latonia Johnson in 106th at 12.55. Phebe Thompson recorded a time of 12.65 to place 112th, while Jaya Harrigan finished in 117th with a mark of 12.90.
In the men's 400 meters, Kai Sherdian represented the Cougars and finished with a time of 50.40.
The Cougars also made their mark in the field events. Lena Cleveland and Luciana Rojas delivered strong performances in the women's triple jump, finishing 25th and 27th respectively. Cleveland recorded a jump of 11.27 meters, while Rojas followed closely with a mark of 11.23 meters. On the men's side, Xavier Beatty posted the top field finish for Chicago State, placing 15th in the triple jump with a distance of 14.62 meters.

Chicago State will compete tomorrow on Saturday March 28, at the final day of the Raleigh Relays. The first event will be long jump for the Cougars at 9:00 AM (CT).
