Men's Tennis Competes to the End Against Saint Louis

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Chicago State men's tennis battled but fell 4-2 to Saint Louis University on February 21 at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.

The Cougars opened strong in doubles play, claiming the point with wins on Courts 1 and 2. The tandem of Joao Teixeira and Justin Atkins delivered a decisive 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Chad Valdes and Andrew Kunaka matched that score with a 6-1 win at No. 2. The third doubles match went unfinished with the teams tied 3-3.

In singles, Yurii Hoida gave Chicago State an early boost at the top of the lineup, earning a commanding 6-3, 6-0 straight-set victory at No. 1. The Billikens responded by taking four completed singles matches to secure the team win. Chad Valdes forced a third set at No. 2 before falling 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Matches at Nos. 3, 4 and 5 went in favor of Saint Louis in straight sets, while the No. 6 contest went unfinished.

With the result, Chicago State University moves to 1-8 on the season.
