Preview: Chicago State Men's Tennis Prepared for 2026 NEC Tournament

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The Chicago State Men's Tennis team is gearing up to compete in the 2026 NEC Men's Conference Tennis Tournament. The NEC tournament is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 16, at 8:00 AM (CT) in West Windsor, New Jersey. The Cougars are set to face the #8 seed, Saint Francis, in the first round of the tournament. The winner of this game will move onto the play top seed Binghamton University later at approximately 1:00 PM (CT) on April 16.

Notable players for Chicago State include Yurii Hoida who brings in a 7-12 record in singles play this season including a 3-1 record in the NEC. In doubles, he has been pair with Joao Teixeira who have a 3-2 record on the season. Other Cougars who are looking to make to make an impact on Thursday are Andrew Kunaka and Reed Gahagan. Kunaka and Gahagan have a steady 2-3 record in doubles play together.

Director of Tennis, Keiran President, shared his thoughts on the team's season to the conference tournament:

"We're excited to go play in our first conference tournament this weekend. We are not in the spot we thought we would be seeding wise when we set some team goals but, none the less we plan to go out and compete to the best of our abilities and I am looking forward to see these guys fight."

The Cougars will open the NEC Men's Tennis Conference Tournament in the first round against the #8 seed Saint Francis
