MADISON, Wis. — The Chicago State volleyball team opened play at the University of Wisconsin Invitational on Thursday, taking on Green Bay at the Wisconsin Field House.
The Cougars showed grit throughout the match, with several players making an impact on the court. Grad student
Jocelyn Carter led the offense with six kills, while
Leah Linares Castro anchored the back row with a team-high 11 digs. Opposite Hitter
Zeynep Ertam chipped in with five assists and added two kills of her own to spark the Chicago State attack.
Despite Green Bay taking the match in straight sets, the Cougars continued to battle in long rallies and gained valuable early-season experience against a veteran Phoenix squad. Chicago State tallied 35 digs as a team, showing strong defensive effort throughout the contest.
The Wisconsin Invitational continues today as the Cougars cap the event by squaring off against host and nationally ranked Wisconsin.
