MADISON, Wis. – Chicago State volleyball showed grit and growth in a road matchup at nationally-ranked Wisconsin on Friday night, falling 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-11) inside the Wisconsin Field House.
The Cougars found their rhythm in the second and third sets, pushing the Badgers with timely kills and scrappy defense. Jocelyn Carter paced Chicago State with a team-high six kills, while Nayella George added five and brought consistent energy at the net. Leah Linares Castro anchored the back row with a team-leading 11 digs, and libero Eliza Covrig chipped in eight digs to steady the defense.
Chicago State's offense found balance as multiple players contributed, with Vasiliki Dagre and Nia Cummings each recording key kills to keep rallies alive. The Cougars also showed improvement in serve receive and ball control as the match progressed, highlighted by Tarcy Mayah's efficient serving.
Chicago State continues its early-season road swing with its next matchup at the UIC Tournament where they will face Central Arkansas on Friday, September 12 and host UIC on Saturday, September 13.
