Women's Soccer Falls to Wagner in NEC Play

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Chicago State women's soccer batted the Seahawks of Wagner College Sunday afternoon who plenty of soccer chances on the day shooting 14 shots with three of them being on target. The Seahawks got out to an early lead less than ten minutes into the game and never really looked back as Chicago State fell 4-0 to the Seahawks.

The first half was very evenly match from a possession and offensive out put perspective. Wagner just put two more shots out on net more than Chicago State The Cougars put together a lot of scoring chances but just could not find that break-through moment. Sophomore Mari Williams had four of the 14 total shots put on net by the Cougars. Veronika Avila, Ameerah Kolleff, and Maya Dixon were the Cougars who had the next best scoring chances with all three having two shots each. Aviana Gutierrez faced seven shots total in goal for Chicago State making three saves. After 11 games so far on her freshman season, Gutierrez now has 61 saves with a save percentage of 74%.

With the loss on Sunday, Chicago State falls to 2-5-4 overall record and a 0-2-1 record in the NEC with one point in the standings after three games into conference play. Chicago State will look to bounce back next Sunday, October 5 as the Cougars host the Sharks of Long Island University from Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep at 1:00 PM (CT)
