Women's Soccer Scores First in Tie to LIU

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago State women's soccer team returned home Sunday afternoon to battle the Sharks from Long Island University (5-2-4, 3-0-2). The Cougars were able to hold a strong Sharks team to only six registered shots, and were able to dominate the possession throughout. The Cougars scored first in the game with a 23rd minute goal by Maya Dixon with the assist by Renee Davis.

Chicago State registered 19 total shots on the day with six being on target looks for good scoring chances. The Cougars played strong defense only allowing LIU to get five shots in the first half and only one in the second half. The Cougars broke through when Maya Dixon scored her fourth goal of the season with the assist credited to Renee Davis. The Sharks would then tie the game 13 minutes later. Ameerah Kolleff led the Cougars in shot attempts with five looks at net. Neither offense could find the back of the net again as the Sharks and Cougars finish to a 1-1 draw and will both earn a point in the conference standings.
