CHICAGO, Ill. (September 19, 2025) - Chicago State University Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of
Alexis Lloyd as the new
Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Lloyd brings extensive experience as both a coach and former high-level player, adding depth and energy to the Cougars' coaching staff.
Lloyd most recently served as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Wagner University, where she also carried Recruiting Coordinator responsibilities. In that role, she helped organize and lead practices, scouted opponents, developed game strategies, and supported student-athletes academically to ensure NCAA compliance.
Her coaching background also includes time at Texas Southern University, working under Hall of Fame coach Cynthia Cooper, and at Showcase Basketball, where she directed programming for K–12 athletes, led training sessions, and oversaw league operations. In addition, she coached at Open Court Sports Complex, further building her reputation as a dedicated mentor and teacher of the game.
Before stepping into the coaching profession, Lloyd was a standout athlete herself. A graduate of the University of Southern California, she was a part of the 2014 Pac-12 Championship team and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2013 and 2015. She was also inducted into the Illinois High School Hall of Fame as part of the historic 2012 Whiteney Young team before continuing her career playing professionally in Europe.
"We are thrilled to welcome
Alexis Lloyd to Chicago State," said Corry Irvin, Head Women's Basketball Coach. "Her experience as both a player at the highest level and a coach with a proven track record in development and recruiting will be an incredible asset to our program. She understands what it takes to succeed on and off the court, and we're excited for the impact she'll make with our student-athletes."
A Chicago native, Lloyd earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Psychology from USC in 2016 and now returns home to continue building the future of Chicago State women's basketball.
