Robert Vogel Named Associate Athletic Director for Communications

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago State University Department of Athletics announces the appointment of Robert Vogel as the Associate Athletic Director for Communications. Vogel joins the Chicago State athletics staff after serving over a two-year stint as the Associate Athletic Director/Sports Information/Compliance at Alverno College. Before joining Alverno College, Robert served as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Agnes Scott College. 
 
Before joining Agnes Scott, Vogel served over a two-year stint as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications & Marketing at Albany State University.

Before Albany State University Vogel served as the Director of Sports Information at Virginia State University. Vogel's primary responsibilities included assisting in the overall communications and public relations for Virginia State University athletics, supervising the media relations staff, serving as the communications officer for all sports program and overseeing content for the school's sports related internet operation. While at VSU, Vogel relaunched the new athletic website and enhanced the department's social media presence.

Vogel also served as Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations for one year at Grambling State. Vogel joined the Grambling State staff in August 2014 after years at Clark Atlanta University as the assistant sports information director. Vogel's primary responsibilities included assisting in the overall communications and public relations for Grambling State athletics, supervising the media relations staff, serving as the communications officer for the all sports programs and overseeing content for the school's sports related internet operation.

Vogel served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Clark Atlanta University where he assisted in all areas of sports information. With the Panthers, Vogel served as the primary contact for football, women's basketball, softball and baseball. Since joining the department, he also assisted with the conference tournaments.

A native of Chicago, Ill., Vogel graduated from the University of Miami in 2017 with a Master of Science in Education degree in Sports Administration and Clark Atlanta University in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in Communications.

Vogel worked in event marketing for the Atlanta Falcons and promotions with the Atlanta Hawks on the professional level.

Chicago State University sponsors 16 Division I intercollegiate athletic teams and competes in the Northeast Conference with the exception of men's and women's tennis who will compete in the Horizon League during the 2024-25 season.
