INDIANAPOLIS - Chicago State men's tennis player Chad Valdes was named the Horizon League Herb Foster Men's Tennis Sportsmanship Award winner it was announced on Thursday when the league announced the #HLTennis All-League honorees and specialty award winners
The Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award is given in honor of former Wright State men's and women's tennis coach Herb Foster and recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship is defined as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes based on values, respect and integrity.
Valdes is described by head coach Kieran President as "always having a positive and supportive attitude" on and off the courts.
The Panama City, Panama native is in his first season with the Cougars, and he primarily played No. 1 singles for the Cougars.
