SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Chicago State put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short in a hard-fought 80-75 loss to Le Moyne on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court.
The Cougars held a 31-27 lead at halftime, fueled by a solid defensive effort and efficient shooting. However, Le Moyne surged in the second half, outscoring Chicago State 53-44 behind a 58.6% shooting performance.
Jalen Forrest led the way for Chicago State with a game-high 22 points, while Quincy Allen added 18 points and eight rebounds. Noble Crawford contributed 12 points and five rebounds, providing key minutes on both ends of the floor.
Despite forcing 20 turnovers and scoring 19 points off Le Moyne's mistakes, Chicago State struggled to contain the Dolphins' second-half offense, which shot 61.5% from beyond the arc. The Cougars' second-chance opportunities were limited, as they managed only two points off offensive rebounds compared to Le Moyne's 12.
The Cougars had a late push, cutting the deficit to three points with seconds remaining, but Le Moyne sealed the game at the free-throw line.
Chicago State now turns its attention to its next match-up on Feb. 20 when they host Central Connecticut State.
