EASTON, Mass. – Chicago State volleyball put together a strong opening set and showed resilience throughout the evening before falling to Stonehill 3–1 (25–23, 20–25, 12–25, 11–25) on Friday night at Merkert Gymnasium.
The Cougars came out sharp in the first frame, hitting .138 as a team and earning key points down the stretch to claim the 25–23 win.
Zeynep Ertam paced the Chicago State attack with a team-high 10 kills, while
Leah Linares Castro added eight kills and a pair of service aces to spark the offense.
Vasiliki Dagre provided seven kills and contributed both at the net and from the service line.
Defensively,
Alyssa Ferreira anchored the back row with 17 digs and a near-perfect reception percentage, while
Nayella George chipped in five kills and a block assist. The Cougars totaled five team blocks and tallied 69 digs in the match.
Despite the setback, Chicago State continued to battle in each set, showing strong energy and aggressive play at the net.
The Cougars close out their East Coast trip with another conference matchup on Saturday.
