Cougars Capture Third Straight with Road Win Over Saint Francis

Loretto, Pa. (October 26, 2025) — Chicago State women's soccer continued its late-season surge with a 2–1 victory over Saint Francis on Sunday afternoon at the Stokes Soccerplex. The win marks the Cougars' fourth of the season and third consecutive, as CSU improves to 5-7-5 overall and 3-4-2 in NEC play.

Chicago State jumped out to a fast start, striking twice within the opening 15 minutes. Gabby Flores opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, finishing off a setup from Saige Thor for her fourth goal of the season. The duo connected again moments later, as Thor converted in the 14th minute from passes by Jacqueline Kambere and Flores to make it 2–0 Cougars.

Defensively, goalkeeper Aviana Gutierrez anchored another strong effort between the posts, recording five saves on 13 Saint Francis shots to earn her fifth win of the season. The Red Flash found the back of the net late in the 89th minute, but the Cougars' defense held firm to secure the result.

Chicago State generated 10 shots, including six on target, while holding a 5–3 edge in corner kicks. Flores led the attack with a goal and an assist, while Thor contributed a goal and an assist of her own.

Head Coach Kevin Larry praised his team's effort and focus, saying, "I'm proud of how our group continues to respond each week. We started strong and set the tone early, which was key on the road. The players are believing in what we're building, and it's showing in our performances."

The Cougars return home for their final home game of the season this Thursday, October 30th as they host the Lakers of Mercyhurst for senior night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
