ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Chicago State men's soccer continued its challenging nonconference slate on Wednesday night, showing grit and persistence in a 6-0 setback at Michigan.
The Cougars' back line absorbed sustained pressure from the Wolverines, with goalkeeper
Johan Rodriguez Morales registering seven saves in just over 70 minutes of action before
Aiden Hollander came on to add two more stops in relief. Together, the duo combined for nine saves, frustrating Michigan's attack throughout stretches of play.
Chicago State grew into the match in the second half, generating a pair of shot attempts from
Owen Santos and
Jorge Leon as the Cougars worked to push forward. Midfielder
Saul Silva played a full 90 minutes, helping anchor the midfield, while defenders
Jacob Deng and
Rylan Ross also went the distance to steady the back line.
Despite the score line, the Cougars continued to show resilience and depth, with 19 different players seeing the field and contributing valuable minutes.
Chicago State (1-8-0, 1-0 NEC) will now look to build on the experience as the team travel to face FDU in NEC conference play on Sunday.
