Cougars Show Grit in Road Match Against FDU

Teaneck, N.J. (October 5, 2025) - Chicago State men's soccer battled hard on the road Sunday afternoon, falling 4–0 to Northeast Conference leader Fairleigh Dickinson University at University Stadium.

Despite the final score, the Cougars displayed resilience and teamwork throughout the match. Goalkeeper Johan Rodriguez Morales turned in a standout performance, recording eight saves against a relentless Knights attack. His leadership from the back line kept Chicago State competitive and composed under pressure.

Forward Hilary Odhiambo and midfielder Saul Silva each registered shots, with Odhiambo's early attempt in the 23rd minute showing promise for the Cougars' offensive development. Defender Rylan Ross anchored the back line with a full 90-minute shift, while Bryan Pena and Owen Santos contributed key midfield minutes and drew fouls to disrupt FDU's rhythm.

Chicago State held FDU to just seven second-half shots and forced multiple offsides, showcasing improved defensive coordination and tactical discipline. The Cougars also earned two corner kicks and maintained possession in key stretches, reflecting their growing confidence and cohesion.

The Cougars (1–9–0, 1–1–0 NEC) return home to host Saint Francis University on Thursday, October 9th. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. at the Kroc Corps Community Center.
