Cougars Fall to FDU

Jalen Forrest tallied a team-best 17 points

CHICAGO - Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) claimed a decisive 58-48 victory over Chicago State University (CSU) in a competitive men's basketball match-up held at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.

The game started with both teams trading early runs, with FDU holding a slight edge at 23-27 by halftime. However, FDU came out firing in the second half, outscoring CSU 31-25. Key to this momentum shift was FDU's ability to dominate in second-chance opportunities, where they outpaced CSU 15-5. Emanuel and Nsiah's combined efforts on the boards provided consistent possessions, enabling the Knights to widen their lead in critical stretches.

CSU's Jalen Forrest was the standout for the home team, scoring 17 points and contributing defensively with three steals, for his second consecutive game in double figures. However, the team struggled with shooting consistency, hitting only 34 percent of their field goal attempts and a mere 19 percent from beyond the arc.

Leading the charge for FDU was Jo'el Emanuel, who tallied an impressive 22 points on efficient shooting, including critical contributions in the paint and from the free-throw line. Bismark Nsiah anchored the team defensively, securing 11 rebounds and adding eight points, while Terrence Brown chipped in with 14 points to round out the offensive effort.

The Cougars are next on the hardwood on Jan. 24 when they take on Stonehill in Easton, MA.
