Cougars Fall to Stonehill

Noble Crawford led CSU with a team-best 15 points

CHICAGO- Chicago State (1-17, 1-2 NEC)  tried to mount a second-half comeback but dropped a 68-52  contest to Stonehill (10-9, 2-2 NEC) at the Jones Convocation Center on Sunday afternoon.

Chicago State fought valiantly in the second half, led by Noble Crawford's 15 points and four rebounds. The Cougars improved their shooting from the free-throw line, converting 15 of 18 attempts in the second half, and cut into the deficit with a stronger defensive effort. However, their shooting struggles from beyond the arc (2-for-14) and 31.9% field goal percentage overall prevented them from mounting a sustained comeback.

Stonehill relied on a strong start and consistent defense to secure the win. The Skyhawks surged ahead early, outscoring the Cougars 37-23 in the first half behind the sharp shooting of Hermann Koffi, who finished with a game-high 18 points, including four three-pointers. Ethan Meuser contributed 11 points off the bench, showcasing his versatility with key outside shots.

The Skyhawk defense was pivotal, forcing 13 turnovers and limiting the Cougars' opportunities in the paint. Louie Semona controlled the tempo with 11 points and six rebounds, while Todd Brogna added a steady six points and six boards. The Skyhawks capitalized on Chicago State's turnovers, turning them into 16 points, and maintained control of the game by consistently extending their lead whenever the Cougars attempted to rally.

Chicago State is next in action on Jan. 18 when they host LeMoyne.
