The Chicago State men's and women's golf teams competed in the 39th Annual Thomas W. Dortch Jr. HBCU Golf Classic sponsored by the Black College Golf Coaches Association (BCGCA) Monday and Tuesday, September 23 and 24 at the Stone Mountain Golf Course in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
The CSU women earned a second-place finish, 15 strokes behind tournament winner North Carolina Central.
Almudena Aguera led the Cougars with a two-round 157 (78-79), good for a sixth place individual finish, followed
Begona Perez who finished tied for eighth with a 159. Aguera, Perez and
Gia Lamba each shot a low round of 78.
One the men's side, Chicago State tied for third, just a stroke behind second place finisher Tennessee State and 19 strokes off the pace of tournament winner Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Zack Phelps and
Payton Dunahee paced the men tying for an eighth-place finish with a pair of 149s. Phelps shot the low round of the tournament for Chicago State with a second-round 72.
