Julian Colavecchia claimed medalist honors and the Chicago State men's golf team earned a six-shot margin of victory over runner-up Oakland City Friday at the Delaware Shootout hosted by Indiana University East at the Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana.
The Cougars posted a first-round tournament low 295 and carried that margin to the tournament win. Colavecchia shot a two-round 142 for a two-stroke margin of victory followed by Devin Kucy (12th, 151), Zack Phelps (14th, 152), Payton Dunahee (t18th, 155) and Colin Armistead (t23rd, 157) rounded out the top five while the Chicago State "B" team placed 10th led by Marcus Freeman IIII who shot 157. The Cougars will be back on the course September 23-24 at the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. Golf Classic Hall of Fame sponsored by the Black College Golf Coaches Association (BCGCA) at Stone Mountain Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
