About the Illinois Army National Guard
The Illinois Army National Guard represents a distinct component of the U.S. Military, tasked with a dual mission to support both their community and country. Guard members generally serve on a part-time, stateside basis, but they stand ready to respond to domestic emergencies, participate in overseas missions, support counterdrug operations, engage in reconstruction tasks, and more. This dual role brings with it a range of federal and state benefits, such as competitive pay, fully waived tuition at state-funded institutions, affordable healthcare, eligibility for VA home loans, among others. The Illinois Army National Guard empowers individuals to accomplish more in service to their communities.
