Chicago State Athletics Adds Strength & Conditioning Coach

Chicago State University announced the addition of Michael Gomori to the athletic department today. Gomori will serve as a strength and conditioning coach.

Gomori joins the Cougars following a stint as a strength & conditioning graduate assistant at the University of Evansville where he developed and implemented evidence-based training programs for student-athletes, specifically focusing on women's basketball, cross-country and throws. His role also involved leading practice and game-day warm-ups, assisting with travel operations and providing nutrition recommendations.

He earned both his Master of Science in Health & Exercise Science and his Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion, Nutrition, and Exercise Science from The Ohio State University, College of Education & Human Ecology. Additionally, Gomori is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise.

Prior to his time at the University of Evansville, Gomori worked as a Strength & Conditioning Intern at The Ohio State University where he contributed to the development of student-athletes across various sports, including basketball, ice hockey, wrestling, golf, lacrosse, track and field and rowing.

Chicago State University sponsors 16 Division I intercollegiate athletic teams and competes in the Northeast Conference with the exception of men's and women's tennis who will compete in the Horizon League during the 2024-25 season. CSU's athletic program includes over 150 student-athletes that compete in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track, triathlon and volleyball.
