Cougars Men’s Tennis Drop 6-1 Decision to Cleveland State

Box Score The Chicago State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Cleveland State Sunday at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion in Cleveland. CSU's Pedro Alvarez had his 12-match win streak snapped with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) loss to the Vikings Lincoln Battle at No. 1 singles while freshman Zak Raziwillowicz picked up the Cougars lone victory at No. 4 singles.

"Pedro went out there and gave everything he had," head coach Jack Barton said. "Lincoln (Battle from Cleveland State) is a really good player and he played well against Pedro. Pedro has the longest winning streak in CSU tennis history and has solidified himself as our best player, maybe the best student-athlete, in program history, so he should be proud of what he's accomplished during this time and work on building another streak.

"Zak really played clean today. This is the example of what he can do when focused so he did a great today and he will continue."

Compete results listed below.

The Cougars will be back in action Sunday, March 31, taking on Northwestern at 5:30 p.m. at the Combe Tennis Center in Evanston.
