Chicago State Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams Compete at ASU Spring Classic

Men Place Third, Women Sixth in First Tournament of the Season

The Chicago State men's and women's golf teams each competed in their first competitions of the spring at the ASU Spring Classic hosted by Alabama State at the Robert Trent Jones at Capitol Hill: The Judge in Prattville, Alabama. The men finished third after beginning the final day just ahead of runner-up Arkansas-Pine Bluff but dropped six strokes to finish two behind APB. Host Alabama State was the wire-to-wire winner, earning the team title by 22 strokes. On the women's side, Chicago State placed sixth, 14 shots ahead of host Alabama State. Samford earned the team title, with back-to-back low rounds and 20 strokes better than runner up Troy.

The Chicago State Men were led by Pablo Riveiro who finished third overall with a two-round 152, two strokes off the lead. He shot the lowest round of the tournament on the finial day, a 74 to stay in contention for the overall lead. Gia Lamba shot the lowest two rounds for the Chicago State women with a 161 while Montserrat Bayardo had the lowest round, a 78, in the tournament's opening round.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action February 25-26 at the Arcis HBCU/BCGCA Golf Invitational at the Golf Club of Westin Hills in Westin, Florida.
