Chicago State Men’s Tennis Falls to Chicago 5-2

Box Score The Chicago State men's tennis team lost to Chicago 5-2 Friday afternoon in the second match of a home and away day, beating Prairie State earlier in the day. The Cougars won at No. 1 doubles but lost the team point and Pedro Alvarez won in straight sets at No. 1 singles and Percy Siercke won in three sets at No. 4 for the 5-2 final.

"In our second match of the day, against Chicago, I was very disappointed in our lack of effort in our first sets in four of our six matches," head coach Jack Barton said. "We have to have the integrity and the intensity to fight in every point like we can come back. We played better in the second sets, but by then Chicago had enough momentum to close us out on those courts. They are nationally ranked in DIII for for a reason."

Compete results listed below.

The men's tennis team will be back in action on Saturday, February 17 with a pair of matches. First welcoming Purdue Northwest to the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood. The Cougars will then travel to South Bend, Indiana to face Notre Dame at 5 p.m.
