Box Score The Chicago State men's tennis team lost to Toledo 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood. The Rockets swept doubles to earn the team point and clinched the team victory winning the first three singles matches. The Cougars responded with wins at No. 3 and 4 singles where
Rodrigo Alves beat Adam Kovac in three sets at No. 3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
Percy Siercke won at No. 4 over Cole Cozens, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).
"In my absence today I really appreciate our volunteer coach Emir Hamzic for stepping up today," head coach
Jack Barton said who was overseeing the women's team at Illinois State. "Based on the scores this really looked like a competitive match. Doubles was close and four of our singles matches went to three sets. Toledo is the defending MAC champions and with a performance like this it should give our guys a lot of confidence moving forward. I'm really happy to see Percy, Rodrigo, and Zak playing so good and being competitive. We are going to need them this season and they are really starting strong."
