Chicago State student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom with 28 student-athletes across 15 sports achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA) during the 2023 fall semester while 103 student-athletes earned a GPA between 3.0 and 3.99. In total, 131 student-athletes posted a GPA of a 3.0 or better.
From a team standpoint, nine Cougars teams posted team GPAs of 3.0 or better led by the men's and women's tennis teams who posted the top two team GPAs this semester with 3.78 and 3.76 GPAs, respectively. Women's golf (3.45), men's golf (3.38), volleyball (3.35), men's soccer (3.32), women's soccer (3.08), women's basketball (3.04) and women's track & field/cross country (3.04) were the other programs which achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or better.
"Chicago State student-athletes continue to redefine excellence," CSU's Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Success Whitley Bradley said. "We had 28 student-athletes achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA and a total of 131 athletes demonstrate academic prowess with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Cougars teams, led by men's and women's tennis, set the bar high with outstanding team GPAs, solidifying their legacy of success in both sports and academics. I'm so proud of how our student-athletes excelled in the classroom this past fall and I'm looking forward to seeing them continue that success in the spring."
Cougars student-athletes have a long history of succeeding in the classroom and are well represented on the Dean's List, Provost's Honor Roll, President's Honor Roll and the University Honor Roll.
