The Chicago State women's soccer team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Detroit Mercy Titans Friday night at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep in Chicago. CSU's
Delaney Kenney and Giselle Sahagun both recorded their first goals of the season in the loss.
In the first half, the Cougars managed to start quickly with a goal from Kenney after a cross from Natalie Diaz to go up 1-0 at the sixth-minute mark.
The Titans rallied with two consecutive goals which turned the match around as they now led 2-1 and would hold that lead at the break.
To start the second half, Detroit added to their lead, adding a pair of goals to increase their lead to 4-1 at the 76th minute mark.
CSU rallied when, coming off a corner from
Samantha Jablonski, Sahagun fired it into the back of the net to cut the deficit to two, 4-2.
Chicago State continued to press but the Titans held on for the 4-2 win.
The Cougars will be back on the pitch on Sunday, September 10 at 1 p.m. against Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Illinois.
