Cougars Track & Field Teams Wrap Up Outdoor Season at NIU Huskies Invitational

The Chicago State men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up the 2023 outdoor season Saturday afternoon at the NIU Huskies Invitational at the NIU Track/Soccer Stadium in DeKalb. Freshman Brenda Jepkoech continued her impressive first season by establishing a school record in the 3000m with a time of 10:57.86, topping the previous mark of 11:25.15 set in 2019. Earlier this season she set a new record in the outdoor 1500m run and the indoor 1 mile run and was a part of both the women's indoor and outdoor distance medley relay school record teams.

Mychah Spells won the 110 meter hurdles and CSU runners won the men's and women's 400m dash with Rikki Gray winning with a time of 59.05 while Nicolae Vandor won the men's race, crossing the finish line at 51.96. Gray was a double winner, posting a season-best time of 24.78 in the 200m dash to highlight the Cougars afternoon.
