Chicago State Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Teams Compete at Jack Shaw Invitational

The Chicago State men's and women's track & field teams began their outdoor season at the Jack Shaw Invitational hosted by Western Michigan University at Kanley Track in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Cougars women's team earned four first-place finishes including RikkI Gray running 25.18 in the 200m, the 4x100 (Saskkia, Rikki Gray, Jayda Ireland, Miahna Harden) running 48.90, Miahna Harden with a leap of 5.63m in the long jump and Sanaya Ross with a leap of 10.89m in the triple jump. On the men's side, the 4x100 (Mikhail Watson, Willie Merrick, Wesley Keith, LaVell Patterson) placed second with a time of 43.03 and Chicago State earned three third-place finishes with LaVell Patterson running 11.02 in the 100m dash, Allan Kipruto with a time of 15:33.62 in the 5000m and Mychah Spells with a time of 15.28 in the 110m Hurdles.

The Cougars will be back on the track at the Gibson Invitational hosted by Indiana State University on Saturday, April 15 at the Gibson Track & Field in Terre Haute, Indiana. The meet begins Thursday (April 13) but the first two days are primarily for the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon along with the men's hammer throw and women's javelin.
