The Chicago State men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Gibson Invitational hosted by Indiana State University Saturday at the Gibson Track & Field in Terre Haute, Indiana. The CSU women placed 14th in an 18-team field while the men finished 17th out of 20.
The men scored points in the 1500m with
Collines Chelak earning an eighth place finish with a time of 3:57.87 and Allen Kipruto also finished eighth in the 5000m when he crossed the finish line at 15:26.29. The men's 4x400 relay team of Kenny Spears,
Mychah Spells,
Maxwell Mitchell and
Wesley Keith finished seventh with a time of 3:33.13 to round out the scoring for the CSU men.
On the women's side,
Brenda Jepkoech established a new Chicago State outdoor record in the 1500m with a time of 4:53.32, topping the the previous best time of 4:56.22 set in 2019. She finished 13th in the event.
Miahna Harden placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.68m and the Cougars also picked up points in the relays with the 4x400 team placing fourth (

Jayda Ireland,
Myshell Hurse,
Rikki Gray) with a time of 3:58.49 and the 4x100 team came in fifth (
Miahna Harden,
Rikki Gray,
Jayda Ireland,
Saskkia Wiggan) with a time of 47.10.
The Cougars will be back in competition next weekend, April 21-22, at the EKU Rick Edrmann Twilight hosted by Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky.
