Box Score 2 The Chicago State men's tennis team played a pair of road matches in two different locations today, first, traveling to South Bend, Indiana where the Cougars earned a 4-3 win over Holy Cross College at the University of Notre Dame. The Cougars then returned to Chicago and dropped a 5-2 decision to the University of Chicago at the Stagg Tennis Courts this afternoon.
Pedro Alvarez picked up a pair of wins at No. 2 singles and paired with
Max Sandoval for a pair of doubles wins. The University of Chicago is currently ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division III and won the D-III team championship last season.
"These remaining matches are about development and focusing on the future," head coach
Jack Barton said. "Matches we are losing are amounting to the same mistakes every time and we just have to get better. I talked with the guys after the match and this cannot continue. We will focus on getting the bottom of the line up prepared for the last two matches to help carry the load and finish strong."
Compete results listed below.
The Cougars will close out the 2023 spring season with a pair of home matches next weekend, April 22 and 23, hosting IUPUI Saturday and Northern Kentucky Sunday at Prairie State College, 202 S.
