Box Score The Cougars men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Cleveland State Saturday afternoon at the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club in Homewood, Illinois. Chicago State got off to a strong start in doubles with
Pedro Alvarez and
Max Sandoval teaming for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles but Cleveland State swept the remaining two matches for the team point. In singles Alvarez won his match at No. 2 with a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 victory but Cleveland State claimed five of six singles matches for the 6-1 win.
"They guys played one of their best matches of the year," head coach
Jack Barton said. "The problem is we played a multi-time Horizon League championship team in Cleveland state who have tons of experience. I told the guys that the margin of error was very small and the amount of mistakes we make will determine the match. We made just a few too many unforced errors and Cleveland State played big on the points they needed.".

Chicago State will continue Horizon League play tomorrow (Sunday, April 2), hosting Youngstown State.
