Chicago State sophomore golfer Montserrat Ramirez earned medalist honors at The Starks Invite by Farmers hosted by Tennessee State University at the Greystone Golf Club (Par 72, 5,892 yards) in Dickson, Tennessee today. The final round concluded this afternoon and Ramirez, the first day leader by two strokes, shot a six-over 78 today for a two-round total of 152, to finish four strokes ahead of runner-up Erin Marcelino of host Tennessee State who shot 78-78-156.
"I am so proud of Montse (Montserrat Ramirez) for winning her first college tournament," head coach
Angela Rayhill said. "She has a lot of talent and deserves it for how well she played over the past two days. Her hard work over the last month put her in a great position for this weekend and it definitely showed."
As a team, the Cougars began the day in second place but slipped to fourth in the five-team field with a 338, finishing with a two-day total of 670, 27 strokes off the pace of tournament team champion Bethune-Cookman who shot 643.Â

The next action for the Cougars will be March 20-21 at the Black College Golf Coaches Association (BCGCA) at the Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
