Cougars Women’s Golf Team Finishes Third at Gulf Shores Invitational

The Chicago State women's golf team finished third out of four teams in the two-day Gulf Shores Invitational hosted by the BCGCA at The Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club (par 72, 5,889 yards) in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The teams were scheduled to play two rounds Monday with an additional 18 holes Tuesday but the second round was suspended due to darkness so those left on the course completed their rounds Tuesday morning before completing the scheduled 18 holes for Tuesday.

Koranis Boonmadee shot 79 in both the second and third rounds to pace Chicago State with a three-round total 242 to finish fourth overall. Darinka Velazquez finished eighth overall with low rounds of 81 in both the first and second round while Montserrat Ramirez shot a final round 85 to finish 11th overall and Catherine Swiercz carded an 88 today to finish in a tie for 15th with teammate Faith McKinney.

The women's golf team will be back in action April 3-4 at the WIU Intercollegiate at TPC Deere Run hosted by Western Illinois in Silvis, Illinois.
