Box Score 2 The Chicago State women's tennis team picked up their first victory of the season with a 4-3 win over St. Louis Saturday night at the St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon, Illinois. The men, also seeking their first win, fell by the same score. The women's match was tied 3-3, leaving the deciding match at No. 6 singles where
Manuella Eloundou Nga won her third consecutive singles match with a 7-6, 6-4 victory to deliver the team win for the Cougars.
"The men's match was a frustrating loss because we have been preparing for a match like this one," head coach
Jack Barton. "Opportunities were there for the guys. We had some undisciplined play and an inability to make balls into the court, caused us to lose this match. We have to learn that consistency and making fewer unforced errors will open doors for us to be successful."
"I'm very happy for the women's team today," associate head coach Adesuwa Osabuohien said. "This is the first win of the season. We showed up to a really tough team and competed. Everyone played well today and I'm very happy Manuella (Eloundou Aga) handled the pressure well when it was 3-3 for clinch."
