Box Score The Chicago State women's basketball team trailed by double digits for much of the afternoon but a late 10-2 run cut the margin to six to get within striking distance in the final minutes and the Cougars had possession trailing by six with under two minutes to play but the Bobcats forced a turnover and Texas State made 12-of-13 free throws down the stretch to escape with an 84-76 victory.
Four Cougars players scored in double figures led by
Jacia Cunningham with 23, followed by
Tae'lor Willard with 17, Jose Hill with 14 and
Taylor Norris with 12.
ZiKeyah Carter led CSU with seven rebounds, all on the defensive end, and
Josie Hill, who entered the contest ranked second in the nation in blocks, recorded six to lead all players.
Today's game was the Cougars second of the three-day, four-team Florida International MTE Christmas Classic at Ocean Bank Convocation Center in Miami, Florida. Chicago State will conclude play Wednesday against tournament host Florida International at 11 a.m.
