Box Score The Chicago State women's basketball team lost to Alabama A&M 80-43 Monday afternoon in their first game of the Florida International MTE Christmas Classic at Ocean Bank Convocation Center in Miami, Florida.
The Cougars led by three on a couple occasions in the first quarter before the Bulldogs used a 7-2 run to take the lead and held a two-point advantage at the end of the first quarter, 16-14. CSU opened the second quarter with a 6-2 run to regain the lead but Alabama A&M outscored the Cougars 16-5 over the next seven minutes to take control of the game and led by nine at the break, 34-25. The Cougars opened the second half with a scoring drought and the Bulldogs took advantage with a 17-4 run to increase the lead to 22 points, 51-29 and cruised to the 37-point win
The Cougars had two players in double figures led by
Jacia Cunningham with 13 points and
Taylor Norris had 10 and led CSU with seven rebounds.
The Cougars will continue action over the next two days in the four-team MTE Tournament, taking on Texas State Tuesday and host FIU Wednesday. All games are at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center in Miami, Florida.
