The Chicago State athletic department announced today that Jimmy Ott has been named a strength and conditioning coach for the Cougars. In his role he will assist with the training efforts of CSU's student-athletes representing 15 Division I athletic programs, working primarily with men's and women's golf and men's and women's soccer.
Ott comes to Chicago State after working as a sport performance intern for the past year at DePaul University where he assisted coaching all aspects of strength and conditioning with each of the Blue Demons 15 sports programs, using sport science technology including Perch VBT and Tendo Units, Jump Mat, Vale software for force plates, Nord board and hand dynamiter, GPS through Kinexon and Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull Testing.
Ott earned a Master of Science in Sports Physiology and Performance Coaching from Carroll University where he was also an assistant human performance coach where he implemented a comprehensive strength and conditioning program for the softball team, creating individual athlete dashboards to track lifting progress and a wellness questionnaire to measure sleep, stress and perceived exertion.
Prior to his time in Waukesha, Wisconsin, he was a strength and conditioning coach/intern at Cressey Sports Performance in Palm Beach, Florida, a personal trainer at Fitness Together in Washington, D.C., and assistant strength and conditioning coach at Morgantown High School in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Ott is a graduate from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports and Exercise Psychology and holds certifications from NSCA CSCS, USA Weightlifting Level 1, American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Foundation Certified.
