The Chicago State men's soccer team hosted the Lindenwood Lions on Sunday afternoon at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep in OVC men's soccer and suffered a 1-0 loss.
In the first half, both teams came out attempting to maintain possession which led to most of the play being held up in the midfield. Despite several chances from the Cougars, the game remained 0-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Cougars were able to press up the field more and rack up a total of six corner kicks, yet were not able to find the back of the net.
Due to Chicago State's press up the field, the Lions took advantage with a counterattack at the 86th-minute mark which led to a free kick as the Cougars were forced to foul to stop the attack.
The Cougars foul led to the Lions earning the first goal of the match which ended up being the winner as the Cougars were unable to break through, falling short with a score of 1-0.
The Cougars will next take on the University of Southern Indiana on Thursday, October 12 at 3 p.m. in Evansville, IN.
