Chicago State Women’s Tennis Lose to Milwaukee 4-3

Cougars back on the court tomorrow against Oakland

The Chicago State women's tennis team suffered a tough 4-3 loss to Milwaukee Saturday afternoon at the Park Forest Health and Fitness Club in Park Forest. The Cougars dropped the doubles point but tied the match, 3-3, with No. 6 singles still being contested after claiming wins in three of five matches. The match at No. 6 extended to a third set but but Milwaukee pulled out the victory with a 6-3 win third-set win a 4-3 team victory. Complete results listed below. 
 
"We had a great run and had an opportunity to take over the match," associate head coach Adesuwa Osabuohien said. "We did our best but just fell a bit short. After winning at No. 3 singles, Lizi made the score 3-3 and Susi (Andres) was 3-3 and had to clinch the match. She left everything had on the court and I'm happy with the way she competed. We have some more work to do and i believe we will keep growing,"
 
The next action for the Cougars will be tomorrow, Sunday, March 13, at 9 a.m. against Oakland at the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club in Homewood. The Golden Grizzlies are 3-4 overall while the Cougars drop to 6-11 following today's loss to Milwaukee.

About Chicago State
Chicago State University Athletics is comprised of 15 intercollegiate teams involving over 150 student-athletes that compete in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and volleyball. CSU held memberships in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and NCAA Division II before transitioning to NCAA Division I in 1994. Melvin Bland was the first CSU student-athlete to gain NAIA All-American status in 1974 as a wrestler. Fred Evans became the first black swimmer ever to win a national championship in 1975. CSU's women's basketball team earned a spot in the 2011 Women's Basketball Invitational and CSU's men's basketball team won the 2013 Great West Conference Tournament title and made an appearance in the CollegeInside.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).  The Men's Outdoor Track & Field 4x100-Meter Relay team were 2019 Honorable Mention All-Americans and WAC Champions. Their feat marked the first time the Chicago State's men's track & field program was represented at the national meet. In 2021, three different CSU teams earned victories over Big Ten opponents with men's soccer beating Northwestern, women's basketball upending Wisconsin and volleyball, which established a school record 17 wins and hosted a post-season volleyball tournament for the first time in program history, swept Indiana in Bloomington.
