The Chicago State men's basketball team is scheduled to host Tarleton on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago. The two teams played for the first time in the series history in Huntsville Feb. 5 with the Cougars dropping a 57-54 decision, erasing a pair of 11-point leads and taking a lead in the final minutes before losing by three. Tarleton is 11-14 overall and 6-6 in the WAC.
Chicago State will close out the home portion of their Western Athletic Conference over the next week, hosting three games (Tarleton, 2/19; GCU, 2/23; New Mexico State, 2/26) before taking to the road to close out the regular season at California Baptist (3/2) and at Seattle (3/5). The top 10 eligible  teams in the WAC will move on to the conference tournament March 9-12 in Las Vegas. The Cougars are currently ninth, a half game ahead of UTRGV and two games in front of Lamar.
Chicago State is 2-9 in conference games this season which is already more wins than the Cougars posted in league play since 2014-15 when CSU finished 4-10. The year prior, 2013-14, the first year the Cougars competed in the Western Athletic Conference, Chicago State went 8-8 in league play and 13-19 overall.

Brandon Betson was one of four players in double figures with 12 points. He has led the team in scoring eight times this season, has eclipsed the 20-point mark four times and has scored in double figures 21 times this season. He has converted at least one three-point field goal in 23 of 26 games this season and has converted more than one in a game on 19 occasions. He leads the team in three-point percentage (62-168, .369) which currently ranks sixth on CSU's single-season leaders list in that category.
Jahsean Corbett had nine points and has scored in double figures 16 times this season. He registered the highest single-game point output this season for the Cougars with 26 points at New Mexico State.
Kedrick Green came off the bench and played a season-high 34 minutes. He was one of four players in double figures, tying a season high with 14 points, his fourth double-digit scoring effort of the season. He established a season high with eight three-point field goal attempts and tied season highs with three three-point field goals made and five free throws attempted.
Bryce Johnson led the team in scoring with 17 points. He has led the team in scoring four times this season with two of those coming in the last three games. He also led the team in rebounding with a season-high eight boards. He established a new season high minutes played with 37 and tied season highs in field goal attempts (14) and steals (1). Johnson is tied for the second-most threes on the team this season (28, with
Jahsean Corbett), despite missing nine games.
Coreyoun Rushin was one of four players in double figures with 11 points and second in rebounds with seven. He has been the leading rebounder 10 times. For the season, he leads the team in offensive rebounds (66), defensive rebounds (118), total rebounds (184, 7.4 rpg), blocked shots (18) and steals (28).

After coming off a season-high 18 points at Abilene Christian,
Coreyoun Rushin established career and season highs in rebounds (15) and assists (5) at Tarleton.
Brandon Betson led the team in scoring for the eighth time this season with 16 points and established season highs in free throws attempted (6) and made (5).
Kedrick Green scored a then-season-high 14 points and established season highs in both field goals made (5) and three-point field goals made (3) off the bench.
Milestones...
Chicago State's season-opening win over St. Thomas was head coach
Gerald Gillion's first as a collegiate head coach ... That win also snapped a 28-game Cougars losing streak, dating back to December 2019, an 89-81 win over SIUE in Edwardsville, Illinois ... The game against St. Thomas was the Cougars first action in nearly a year, last playing Dec. 20, 2020, in what turned out to be a nine-game, COVID-shortened 2020-21 season ... The Cougars win over SIUE (67-56) marked the Cougars first two-game win streak over Division I opponents since the 2014-15 season (Feb. 26 vs. GCU, W, 74-70; Feb. 28 vs. Utah Valley, 65-44) ... Chicago State won three straight home games for the first time since 2018-19 after winning the first three home games of the 2021-22 season ... The road win over IUPUI win was the Cougars first on the road this season and first road win since Dec. 4, 2019 at SIUE (89-81), a span of 24 games away from the Jones Convocation Center (includes two neutral site games) ... the Cougars earned their first Western Athletic Conference victory since March 2018 (vs. UMKC, W 96-82) when the Cougars beat California Baptist 58-56 at home on Jan. 8 ... Chicago State's 67-56 win at Lamar was the Cougars first conference road victory since Jan. 12, 2017 when CSU beat Utah Valley in Orem, 70-61.
