Box Score The Chicago State men's basketball team dropped an 83-61 decision at St. Thomas Friday at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota. A cold-shooting first half led to a 12-point halftime deficit which proved too much to overcome. The Cougars shot just 32 percent in the first half, compared to 68 percent for the host Tommies. Included in the cold start was an 0-for-10 effort from beyond the three-point arc where St. Thomas held a 12-0 advantage through the first 20 minutes.
Wesley Cardet was one of three Cougars players in doubles figures and he led all scorers with 18 points and was joined by Jahsean Corbett (15) and Elijah Weaver (10). Corbett also led all players with 11 rebounds with five on the offensive end.

St. Thomas wins the opening tip and scores on the first trip down the floor for a quick 2-0 lead
Following a Cougars miss, the Tommies score on back-to-back possessions for a 4-0 lead
Jehsean Corbett stops the run with a jumper to put Chicago State on the board, 4-2
Following another Corbett score, the Tommies go on a 10-2 run to go up 15-6, the only score was a Corbett layup who had all six Cougars points
Wesley Cardet stops the run with a layup, St. Thomas leads 15-8
Deshawn Jean-Charles converts an and one and the Tommies lead 19-11
Tommies go on a 9-0 run to jump out to a 28-11 lead
Through the first 15 minutes, St. Thomas shooting 68.4 percent from the field (13-19) including 4-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc. Chicago State is 6-of-24 from the field (25 percent) and 0-of-9 from three with the Tommies leading 33-13

St. Thomas started the second half scoring with a pair of free throws
Wesley Cardet scores his 11th point, hitting a three to pull CSU to within 13, 40-27
The three keyed a 5-0 Cougars run following baskets by Elijah Weaver and Bryce Johnson and the lead was under double digits at nine, 40-31
St. Thomas responded with a 5-0 run to go back up by 14, 45-31
Chicago State went on a scoring drought of 3:30 and the Tommies increased their lead to 20 during the stretch, 55-35
The teams traded baskets for much of the remainder of the game with CSU not getting closer than 17 points (64-47)

The next action for the Cougars will be part of men's and women's doubleheader on Monday, November 14 at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago. The men will face IUPUI in the nightcap following the Chicago State women and IUC. The game will start approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game.

Chicago State volleyball recorded a historic season in 2021, with Yanlis Feliz becoming CSU's first volleyball All-American and head coach Tony Trifonov earning selection as WAC Coach of the Year. During that same season, three different CSU teams earned victories over Big Ten opponents with men's soccer beating Northwestern, women's basketball upending Wisconsin and volleyball, which established a school record 17 wins and hosted a post-season volleyball tournament for the first time in program history, swept Indiana in Bloomington.
