The Chicago State women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches today, playing rare home and away matches on the same day. First, Chicago State lost 5-2 to SIUE at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood, then traveled to Urbana, IL and lost 4-0 to the University of Illinois at the Atkins Tennis Center Sunday night.
Â
Katarina Drazic and
Katarina Dukic each picked up singles victories against SIUE while, despite being shut out against Illinois, Drazic had a 6-3, 2-1 lead when the match concluded. Complete match results below.
Â
"We had a slow start in doubles against SIUE," associate head coachÂ
Adesuwa Osabuohien said. "They fed off of the momentum in doubles and created more pressure as a team to close out singles. Against Illinois, we made a few adjustments in doubles to keep each game close in point play but we lacked execution on deciding points. In singles, Katarina Drakic and Katrina Dukic stepped up and played very disciplined, controlled rallies and executed a lot of shots."Â
Â
The Chicago State men's and women's tennis teams will host Eastern Illinois on Friday, Jan. 28 at the Park Forest Health & Fitness Club. The women are slated to start at 11:30 a.m. and the men will follow at 3 p.m.
