Eastern Illinois Edges Chicago State Women's Soccer

Cougars return to Chicago Sunday

By Sebastian Montoya, Athletic Communications Intern

CHICAGO — On Friday, the Chicago State women's soccer (0-3) team battled it out in Charleston, Illinois against the Eastern Illinois Panthers, with EIU coming out on top, 1-0.

In the first half, the Cougars and Panthers went at one another back-and-forth, producing several chances but with no scores.

It wasn't until the 43rd minute mark that the Panthers finally broke through the Cougars' defense with a bottom-left placed shot fired in by Serra Pizano, which was assisted by Michaela Danyo.

That was the only goal of the half, which left the Cougars trailing, 1-0.

In the second half, both defenses held strong and the Panthers sealed a 1-0 victory.

The Cougars are back in action on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Green Bay at DePaul's Wish Field.
